Run Android Apps On Your PC

  Are you big fan of Android apps, but don’t have a tablet or smartphone, or maybe just want the option of using your favorite app on your PC, you’ll want to check out the BlueStacks app player. This Android emulator allows you to download and use  Android apps on your PC.

BlueStacks is free and you’ll be able to log in with your Google account to purchase or download free apps like Whatsapp and games like Candy Crush Saga.

Before you download, note that BlueStacks app player should be downloaded to the same drive as Windows i.e. C. however, when installing apps; you can choose a different drive. If your machine has a virtual machine installed, it is not recommended to install BlueStacks in the same machine. The app is not compatible with BitDefender; you can only have one running on a machine.

System Requirements:

1.     Have administrator rights on your laptop/PC

2.     At least 1 GB RAM, although they recommend having 2 GB of RAM/main memory. (Note that having 2GB or more disk space is not the same as 2GB of RAM)

3.     9GB of disk space available for storing Android apps / games and their data

4.     Default installation drive is the same as your Windows OS.

5.     PC’s graphic drivers should be up-to-date

To download BlueStacks app player, visit their site and click on the green icon that reads Download App Player.

A window will open, offering you the option to save the installer. Choose Save.

Go to your Downloads folder and click on the BlueStacks Installer. Your PC will warn you that it is an executable file. As long as you’ve downloaded BlueStacks from the official link above, go ahead and click Run to continue the process.  You’ll the need to accept the terms of the license agreement after reading them and click Next.

You’ll be given options to customize the install, but I would suggest choosing the default settings and then clicking Install. Installation will begin and a green bar will show you the progress of the installation process.  It may also take a few moments to initialize. When installation is finished the BlueStacks player will launch automatically.

When BlueStacks is successfully launched, you’ll see the window below.

Now you can change the settings for BlueStacks. You’ll want to adjust the time to match your PC clock. Click on the right corner settings icon (It looks like a gear) and you can change time and adjust things such as Cloud Connect, Keyboard settings, Language… Pretty much the same settings options you’ll see on an Android Device.

Now that you have successfully installed and launched BlueStacks, you can click the My Apps icon and choose 1 Click Sync Setup to bring up a wizard to walk you through the installation process.

After you set up access to the Play Store, just go to  My Apps and click the search icon to look for any app you’re interested in downloading. You should be able to download the app and run it within BlueStacks on your PC. Keep in mind that apps are designed to work with touchscreens, so you won’t necessarily have the same experience with a mouse and keyboard.

And, of course, there’s no way to guarantee that all Android apps will work with Bluestacks.  And since many of the apps are designed for smaller screens, they may not look so great on a larger PC screen. 

There’s also a premium version of BlueStacks available, you aren’t obligated to purchase it.
